Re-Pairing Your Remote to the Control Box
If your Independence bed or Customatic Sleep Technologies adjustable base is not responding to remote commands, it may need to be re-paired to the control box. Re-pairing ensures your remote and bed can communicate properly again, especially after a power loss, battery change, or system reset.
When to Re-Pair Your Remote
You may need to re-pair the remote if:
-
The remote light blinks but the bed doesn’t move.
-
The bed was recently unplugged, moved, or reset.
-
You replaced the remote batteries or installed a new control box.
-
Only certain functions respond, or none respond at all.
Step 1: Install Fresh Batteries
-
Remove the remote’s battery cover.
-
Install new, high-quality batteries in the correct (+/–) orientation.
-
If the remote has a lock button, make sure it is unlocked (hold the lock button for 4 seconds until the backlight flashes).
Step 2: Power Cycle the Bed
-
Unplug the power supply from the wall outlet.
-
Wait 30 seconds.
-
Plug the bed back in to reset the control box.
-
The control box should be ready to pair immediately after power is restored.
Step 3: Follow Pairing Instructions from Your Owner’s Manual
The specific pairing process can vary slightly depending on your bed model.
To ensure proper pairing, please refer to the Owner’s Manual for your bed frame.
You can find your owner’s manual in one of two ways:
Option 1: Locate It Online
-
Find your Frame Code Label on the bed.
-
This is typically located on a metal cross bar under the bed, near the foot end, facing the ground.
-
-
Note the Frame Code listed on that label.
-
Visit our Help Center and use the Frame Code to search for the correct Owner’s Manual.
-
Follow the pairing instructions in the manual exactly as shown.
Option 2: Request a PDF Copy
If you cannot locate your manual online:
-
Take a clear photo of the frame code label.
-
Email the photo to Customer Support with a brief note requesting a copy of the owner’s manual.
-
Our team will send you the correct PDF version for your model, including step-by-step pairing instructions.
Step 4: Test the Remote
Once you have completed the pairing steps:
-
Test multiple functions (Head Up, Foot Up, Flat, etc.).
-
If all functions respond normally, the remote has been successfully re-paired.
-
If the remote still doesn’t control the bed, try the pairing process again or perform a system reset before retrying.
(For the Independence Bed please see our article: “How to Reset Your Independence Bed”)
Step 5: Contact Support if Needed
If re-pairing doesn’t restore operation:
-
Confirm that batteries are fresh and the power supply is connected.
-
Take a photo of the frame code label and include it in your message.
-
Contact Customer Support for additional troubleshooting or replacement guidance.
Conclusion: Reconnecting for Reliable Operation
Re-pairing your remote to the control box re-establishes communication and often resolves non-response issues.
With fresh batteries, a quick power cycle, and the proper instructions from your model’s owner’s manual, your bed should resume normal function in just a few minutes.
